Epilepsy Update

Eduardo's Mommy Here:

Hello everyone, I want to thank you all for your kind words and thoughts. I went to the hospital to find out why my epilepsy was acting up out of the blue like it was and why the headaches were back, and my doctor said she wanted a cat scan to see if the ventricles in my brain are swollen. However, my husband and I don't have insurance, my doctor has been kind enough to see me off the books & the medicine companies actually pay for my medicine, so we have been blessed but we knew this day was going to come. We thought I was going to get disability the first time around & that didn't happen we have been trying for almost a year now. Anyway, we did get the cat scan done at another hospital but, when they seen it they were horrified, the doctors came in our room & she said she didn't know what to do with me because she didn't have a previous cat scan but she had never seen such an abnormal cat scan. As you can imagine I was scared & when she walked out I had a seizure, this was infuriating my husband, who was at a loss at what to do. We stayed at the ER for over 14 hours with no definite answers on what to do. They understood that I was in pain & they understood that my amount of seizures had risen, but they didn't know what to do, and they sent me home to wait to hear from my doctor. Eduardo has just been great, he knows I'm in pain & he knows if I take him out that we can't stay out so he needs to go ahead & do his business(I can't take the noise & the light). When I snuggle with Eduardo & I start crying because my head hurts he just covers me with kisses(If I giggle...well my husband will get jealous then knock Eduardo off the bed, then Eduardo pouts...I've got two big cry baby men!). Ray(my husband) has also proved himself, right now he takes Eduardo out, does the cooking, the dishes and the cleaning. He even lets Eduardo get up on the bed to snuggle with me! Also he puts up with my whining which was a big surprise. I hope to hear something from my doctor soon, she was off Friday & yesterday, but if the ventricles are swollen then they will have to be drained. I have to be honest I am scared of them doing surgery but when I looked it up the Internet information said it was no big deal, so maybe I worry too much? I hope me & Eduardo will be around checking every one's blog's soon! Oh Roxy, Eduardo didn't take a deep breath before he seen that picture of you & well...we are thinking about getting him fixed. For those of you who didn't see the picture here it is:

Oh yes he liked this very much!

Here is what Eduardo has been up to.
I tried & tried to just put it on this post but it wouldn't go on this one, it had to have it's own separate post! So just click the link & you will see what Eduardo's been doing.

We keep checking back to see if there is any news. Thank you for the explanation. We know nothing about epilepsy (cancer & lupus, yes) but when anything's out of your control it's very scary! My mom's latest operation was pretty expensive even with insurance. It sounds like there are some kind drs out there to help you, thank goodness! We'll be thinking about you and hope that things can be resolved quickly. Eduardo sure is cute--it helps my mom relax just looking at his pictures of snuggling!

love & wags,
River & mom

Thank you so much for the update. I am honestly surprised ANYONE has insurance these days with the cost of the premiums. I know it is scary, just thinking about that alone...BUT, you make sure you get the same treatment as if you had insurance. I know this has to be extremely hard, not knowing when a seizure will happen, headaches...etc. BUT, always remember when you are not feeling well, that you have a piece of you in every one of our hearts and we are wishing we could take the pain away. Hats off to your husband and eduardo.

Our thoughts here are with you. The dr sounds wonderful to be helping you out like that. I hope they continue.. Your husband and Eduardo sound like they are doing an awesome job taking care of you!

A close girlfriend of mine has epilepsy and when she got pregnant she ended up in the hospital for a week a few times. Her hormones made it all worse...
It is scary and I am sure the surgery won't be too bad although it does sound scary! Doing your research (if you can) and going in knowledgeable about it always helps.
I hope you get better and they figure out what is going on.

Mom is very upset about your insurance sitaution. She says she understands how come people don't have it. It is SO expensive. We are glad your doctor is helping you. Hopefully, they will find out what is the matter quickly and get it taken care of. Surgery does sound scary, but considering the alternatives... We hope the disability comes through for you soon. That would probably be a big help.
I am sorry about the photo, Eduardo. I wouldn't have done it if I had known your mom wasn't feeling well. You take care of her. I am not jealous.

Roxy

Sending you pug snorts and good thoughts.

I am so sorry to read that you are having to go through all this. It's shameful that people who really need medical treatment have such a hard time getting it. I hope that the doctor has some answers for you soon. Eduardo, keep up the snuggles. They are really good medicine for your Mom.
