Awards & Mommy Update

I want to thank everyone who has given me awards sorry it took so long for me to post about them! Also I want to give you an update on my Mommy.

The Kick Ass Blogger Award from Clover!

The I Love Your Blog Award from River!

The Gold Paw Award from Bolo!

The I love Your Blog Award from Bajas!

The Rusty's Best Bud Award from Rusty!

I want to pass these awards to anyone who hasn't already got them! I've seen most of these awards on every one's blogs already. However because Deetz's family is going through a hard time with the loss of Gizmo, I want to give him(and his family) all these awards, even if they already have them. Please go to Deetz's blog & give him & his family some love, they need it now more than ever.

Mommy Update:

My Mommy is feeling some better, she still hasn't been able to take me outside. She has decided to see a specialist because she feels like something is going on & the doctors won't tell her what it is. Mommy has been doing a lot of research on epilepsy & was surprised at the type of epilepsy she was told she had when it didn't fit her at all! Mommy was told she has Juvenile Myoclonic Epilepsy (this diagnosis was made when she was 14 years old) when my Mommy research the particular disorder she realized it may have fit her at 14 but now it doesn't at all. Mommy has 3 different types of seizures & Juvenile Myoclonic Epilepsy only covers one of the types she has.

When my Mommy was in the hospital a nurse told her that she needs to get a new doctor because as you get older your epilepsy can change & she needs to figure out exactly what type of epilepsy she has, so she can be put on the proper medication for that type! I agree with this nurse & I want my mommy to contact someone who doesn't know anything about my mommy prior to their meeting, so they can start from scratch. But until Mommy gets insurance, she will just have to wait & continue to try and treat the type of epilepsy the doctors say she has.

Eduardo...we are glad your mommy is feeling a bit better, and we add our barks to the chorus telling her to get a second opinion. We wish we knew someone in your state who might help her work through the hoops to get insured, because she truly deserves some immediate help and relief.

We will keep her in our prayers, and hope she can take you outside really soon.

Congrats on your awards and new attire from G-ma Shirley the bargain hunter.
It sounds like your mom needs a second opinion. I am surprised that she was seen by a specialist while she was in the hospital, insurance or not.

Instead of congress bailing out the big CEO's and their companies, they should be getting your mum insurance.....My mum gets upset that your mum don't have insurance and cannot get the care that she deserves....We are going to do some research and mum said she is writing a nasty gram to Congress!

H-Mom is uninsured now that she works at a gallery instead of in "corporate America," so she is very lucky to be healthy, and truly feels your crisis. To buy health insurance, she would have to spend her WHOLE salary every single month. Then means the teen-human does not have insurance either ... it's a sad sad comment on what this nation is doing to the "average working middle class citizen." The truly POOR get better and cheaper care than H-Mom! Anyway, rant over. She is wondering if there is a university study that your mom can participate in? Is there any other resource? Maybe through the Epilepsy Foundation? Hugs all around. especially for your mom.

Hi Eduardo,
Yah, I think it's best that your mom seeks a 2nd opnion. She might end up with the same diagnosis but at elast she can have peace of mind. My mom is also going to see another specialist on Monday about her 'problem' cos her current doctor just does not seem to be able to tell what's wrong with her!!
Hope you guys have a lovely weekend...

Hey sweetie...I was referred to your blog by Harry Pugalicious & his Mom.

I too, have epilepsy. I've had it for years...first diagnosed when I was 17 years old. Depedning on the neurologist you speak with, I have Absence seizures or Complex-partial seizures, in addition to tonic-clonic (grand-mal) seizures.

I take Depakote and Neurotin both to control them. But, of course, with any seizure disorder, nothing completely controls it. The medicine is part of a whole regimine. I have to get enough sleep, eat properly, keep stress-free, etc. You know?

Let me know if you have ANY questions of if you just want to chat. :) ***HUGS***

Hope mommy can get her medical problems straightened out. Very frustrating. Are you being a good little dude and taking care of her? Super snuggle time is in order.

That's really a bad situation you have in the U.S.A. No insurance=no treatment. How sad.

I hope your Mama can get insurance so she can get the medical care she needs. It almost sounds like she just wasted her time in the hospital. I don't understand it at all.

They should never havelet her go home without a firm diagnosis and the proper medication. We wish her the best of luck.
