What am I going to do? I live in an apartment & sometimes it's difficult to let Mommy & Daddy know that I need to go potty. Mommy understands, but Daddy is less understanding. Mommy got a regular bell & tied it to a string & is trying to get me to use it, but I haven't picked up on it yet. Mommy thinks the bell might be too heavy & Daddy thinks I'm not even trying! We've been using the homemade bell for about 3 months now & Mommy & Daddy are worried that I'm not going to pick it up! Does anyone have suggestions on what Mommy & Daddy should do? Mommy seen on Preston's page that he uses the Poochie Bell, but Daddy isn't gonna give up $20 bucks to pay for it! Oh, Mommy is just worried about the price of a steam cleaner, I think she'd rather put up the $20 bucks to pay for the bell than the 100 and something dollars to have a steam cleaner come in.
This is the face of a snuggle puggle at a loss:( Help!!!!

Because we (I mean sissy Paris) messes up the carpet my mom bought a Bissell Steam cleaner. She uses it frequently! (And loves it)
Pee S:
My mom found this site about poochie bells -
http://www.poochie-pets.net/
I usually run to the front door then run back to my mommy and whimper and she knows I need to go out. My mommy had me housebroken within 4 weeks. She said she used to look for the signs and immediately take me outside so I would learn to associate grass with going to the bathroom. I picked it right up. I used to sniff the carpet and spin in circles.....that was my sign. Tell your daddy not to get angry. It is only our parents fault if we have an accident! :)

I started out being crate trained. when I got the hang of that I now go and smash my whole body up against the back door and that causes the blinds to get all mussed up and make loud noises!
I was tought to use a bell too, but I abused my bell privledges so Dad took it away from the door. I guess the thing that worked best for me was a regular schedule of pee breaks and watching for the signs that I needed to go out (sniffing in circles). Now I go to the kitchen, sit by the door, and stare at Mom and Dad until the let me out...if they aren't paying attention I whine. When I was yonger Mom and Dad were somewhat obsessive about letting me out regularly (everytime I woke up from a nap, after playtime, after meals, etc.) They tried those puppy pads but they confused me. Are you crate trained? That was probably one of the best things for me. I hope it all comes together for you. Another thing that worked for me but may not worked for me is going out the back door all the time for potty breaks. Now I know the back door is for potty breaks...I guess this could be a challenge tough in an apartment...unless you are on the ground floor and have a patio.Oh, and one more thing! Mom and dad would give me a treat when I did my business outside...in the begining, until I got the idea that going on grass is good! Good luck!! XOXO Peanut
We don't have any ideas. We kind of have the dogs on a schedule. Louie jumps on the bed in the middle of the night when he has to go out.. I put my paws on the bed and give mom a smooch when I need to go out..

So many typos in my last post. I apologize. I need to proof read my comments before I post :)...or I should take my time when typing. Dog toes aren't made for these tiny keys :P

We used to use a bell. It didn't take me long to learn it but it took Flash forever. Now we just go by the door and stare at mom. Oh my mom bought a little green steam machine because even though we don't potty in the house she says it is a lifesaver for anything like throw up or when I get into the pop.
Hello Eduardo! Thank you for stopping by our blog. You're one little cute Puggle!! :)
Yes, it's very difficult to let hoomans know our potty time. We didn't know aout a bell. When I (Momo) was a pup, I messed alot on our carpet. Our pawrents bought a Bissell steam carpet cleaner. This guy worked really hord for a long time...then he stopped working one day. Our second one lately stopped working as well. :D

pee ess: We'd love to link your blog to ours. Hope it's ok with you.
Hi Eduardo, it sure is nice to meet you! Thanks for visiting our blog, we'll be sure to check in on you often!
Sorry that we don't have any good advice for you regarding your "problem", but we are pugs which means that no matter how well the humans train us, we're still gonna drop the occasional deuce on the carpet when we feel like it. We make up for it by being extra cute though.

Hi, Eduardo!
I don't have a yard in my house so I do my business inside the house, but I have a special place to do it. I learnt to go there since I was 2 months old. Maybe your mom can try something like that to avoid accidents around your house.
Kisses and hugs

Hi Eduardo! If you go to Nanook and Pooka's blog (google their names: they're famous!)and search on "bell" you'll find out how they did it.
You know Mommy tried the bell with me but soon gave up on it when I was a wee pup. So everytime she took me outside she scratched the door with my paw and so I learned that when I wanted to go outside I put my paw on door and whines sometimes if she doesn't see me. Also, she gave me treats everytime I went and potty outside. But now she doesn't so I don't know what is up with me getting no more treats for potty outside. I will have to have a talk with her!
Kisses,
Sami
I like the idea of a bell. I just bark at the door to let the humans know I need to go out.

I wish I had some good advice. We all came mostly potty trained and we all do the pee dance when we need to go out (ie, we come and pester our apes). My ma ape said that when they potty trained her puppy they just took him out a LOT to pre-empt any pottying indoors and then praised him in the outside.
I see you joined DWB--it's the greatest!
wally.
I hope you all find a solution! Thanks for dropping by my blog! :)

Oh, you'll figure it out eventually, Eduardo. My mom watched me like a hawk and took me out way too often before I caught on. Now I sit by the door and wait till someone lets me out.
Maybe this will cheer you up: I have you an award! Go read my blog!
I don't have any suggestions, but you do have my sympathy. I don't know what I would do if I couldn't just go out the back door into my yard.
Momma always seems to know when I need to go out, but Master isn't always that watchful either and if he had to actually walk me every time, well, I don't know what would happen.
The only way I know how to ask to go out is to stand near the door and communicate telepathically. I never learned how to scratch or ring a bell.
I hope you find something that works.
Slobbers,
Mango
